Academic Highlights · LGS Preparation

A strong transition to high school, with an anxiety-free preparation

At Gökkuşağı Schools, LGS preparation is a programme spread across the whole of lower secondary, attending to academic success together with the student’s wellbeing. We prepare our students for their chosen high school with a solid grounding and strong self-confidence.

What Is the LGS Preparation Programme?

Throughout lower secondary, step-by-step preparation

At Gökkuşağı Schools, LGS preparation is not squeezed into the final year; it is a programme spread across the whole of lower secondary, beginning early and progressing in a spiral structure. Starting from core skills, our students are prepared for the exam on a solid grounding.

Alongside academic preparation, the programme places the student’s psychological development at its centre. With peer mentoring, seminars by expert psychologists and one-to-one guidance, our children approach the exam free of anxiety and with self-confidence.

Our aim is not merely a high score, but for your child to be placed at their chosen high school, prepared and in balance.

A note for international families: LGS is Türkiye’s national placement examination for entry to selective state high schools, a local system. It is not required to continue within our school: our students move seamlessly into the Gökkuşağı high school. Families who are considering a state high school prepare for LGS with us, and our guidance team explains the options for every child.

The Core Features of Our Preparation

Early, spiral and supportive

An early start, spiral learning, psychological preparation and expert support; the four foundations that keep our LGS preparation beside the child.

  • I

    An Early Start

Preparation begins from the foundations in grades 3-4, with reading comprehension and verbal and numerical reasoning work.

  • II

    A Spiral Learning Approach

In grades 5-6 what was learned the previous year is revisited and integrated with the new; knowledge becomes lasting.

  • III

    Psychological Preparation and Peer Mentoring

In grades 7-8, peer mentoring and expert seminars reduce exam anxiety and raise motivation.

  • IV

    Expert Support

Through seminars and one-to-one meetings with expert psychologists, the student is supported throughout the process.

The Child’s Wellbeing

The child’s wellbeing matters as much as academic preparation

The LGS is the first big exam most children sit; that is why feeling well through the process matters as much as the preparation itself. With peer mentoring, seminars by expert psychologists and one-to-one meetings, we teach them to manage exam anxiety.

Our spiral learning approach revisits topics spread over time; regular mock exams are not a race but a roadmap showing progress. Our goal is a balanced student who walks towards their chosen high school with confidence.
