What Is the IB Diploma Programme?

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year academic programme developed by the International Baccalaureate Organization for students aged 16-19. While preparing students for university and the life beyond it, it supports their intellectual, social, emotional and physical development as a whole.
The programme is delivered today in more than 5,300 schools worldwide and awards its graduates an internationally recognised diploma. Critical thinking, independent research and intercultural understanding sit at its centre.

A course that questions the nature of knowledge and how it is acquired. By reflecting on “How do we know?”, students develop a critical outlook.
Extended Essay
An original work of around 4,000 words based on independent research in an academic area of the student’s choice. It prepares students for university-level research.
Creativity, Activity, Service
Supports personal development through activities in the arts, sport and service to the community. It takes the student beyond the classroom into real experience.

The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year programme, taught in the final two years of high school (grades 11 and 12). During this time students take one subject from each of six groups together with the DP Core components.
No. Our students receive the Turkish high school diploma and, in addition, earn the internationally recognised IB Diploma. The two diplomas complement each other.
The DP Core consists of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). These three components form the heart of the programme, uniting academic subjects with critical thinking, research and personal development.
