Our LGS Work: The Exam Preparation Programme

LGS preparation is carried out through a spiral programme that begins in Grade 3. We summarise our academic and psychological preparation work and parent collaboration for our parents.

At Gökkuşağı Koleji, our preparation for the LGS (High School Entrance Exam) that our students will take at the end of Grade 8 is carried out intensively within an academic programme. Beginning in Grade 3 with reading comprehension and logic development work, the preparation deepens in the upper grades through a spiral system. In this article, we summarise our LGS work.

A Graduated and Spiral Preparation

Beginning in Grades 3 and 4 with reading comprehension along with numerical and verbal logic work, the preparation continues in a spiral form in Grades 5 and 6. In Grade 7, psychological preparation accompanies the process: through peer mentoring, seminars by expert psychologists and LGS presentations, students prepare actively for the exam together with Grade 8 students.

A successful exam journey is made possible through a programme shaped around the student’s needs and through collaboration with parents.

Parent Collaboration and Post Exam Support

The process is shared with our parents through parent information meetings held at the start of and between terms. The results of unit assessment tests, weekly mock exams and monitoring work are discussed with parents and the necessary steps are taken; gaps in topics are addressed through study and office sessions. Support continues after the exam as well: guidance suited to the percentiles achieved, and preference counseling provided in collaboration between the guidance department and the school administration.

In brief

  • LGS preparation is carried out through a spiral programme that begins in Grade 3.
  • From Grade 7 onwards, psychological support is added to the academic work.
  • Parent collaboration and post exam preference counseling are part of the process.
