The PYP recognises the importance of knowledge, concepts and skills, yet believes that on their own these are not enough to raise an internationally minded individual. For this reason it also focuses on developing positive attitudes towards the world and towards learning. Moreover, these attitudes are believed to develop not by themselves, but through conscious strategies. In this article we explore the PYP attitudes and how they are supported at school.

Being curious about learning, the world and cultures.

Approaching problems with imagination.
Cooperation
Working together and leading when needed.
Empathy
Being able to put oneself in another's place.
Confidence
Trusting one's abilities and having the courage to take risks.
Integrity
Being honest and having a keen sense of justice.
In addition, the PYP also supports the attitudes of commitment, enthusiasm, independence, respect, tolerance and appreciation of the beauty of the world. These attitudes shape what a student will value, what they will feel and how they will behave.
Knowledge and skills matter; but an internationally minded individual is completed by positive attitudes.
