Learning Styles and the Traits of Each Style
Each learning style has its own traits. Learn the characteristics of visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners and how to recognise them from our experts.
Every child learns; but every child's way of taking in knowledge is different. Recognising the traits of learning styles lets you see your child's strengths and offer them the study method that suits them best. In this article we share the distinguishing traits of the three main learning styles and how to notice them.
Learning Styles in Brief
The most common model divides learners into three main groups according to how they take in information: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Most children are a blend of these styles; but usually one is dominant. Recognising the dominant style is not about placing a child in a mould, but about nourishing their strength while developing the other paths too. For an overview of the subject, you can also take a look at our Learning Styles article.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I work out my child's learning style?
Observe them: what do they gravitate towards, in which way do they learn something most easily, what makes them excited when explaining? Recurring tendencies point to the dominant style.
Should they study according to a single style?
No. After gaining confidence with the dominant style, trying the other paths too makes the child a more flexible and stronger learner.
Does a learning style change over time?
Tendencies can change with age, subject and experience. That is why the style should be used not as a fixed label but as a flexible guide.
